This truely the first stock bike that 99 percent of the riders can do a 1/4 mile in 10 seconds . I have witnessed this in Vegas. A few guys who have done track days but never ran the 1/4, did 10 second runs _________________ If life throws you a curve, TURN |

Also the first stock bike that 99% of squids can kill themselves on before the ink on the invoice dries. I wish I had one... |

I was talking to a salesman at the Yamaha dealer down in Florence a couple of years ago when the guy told me, "75% of all R1's that we sell never see the first payment before they are totaled!"
And we wonder why our insurance rates are so high?
Seriously, I hate to see more government but it is becomming obvious that the idiots in our society have surpased the common sense folks. I think we need to adopt the same policies as they have in Great Britain. What is it like 10hp for your first year of riding? _________________

Harry, what does the dude mean by "Igniter" Is that like a timing advancer?
Also, don't you have to get a pro license if you run in the 9's? _________________

Jack, not sure about the Igniter box , the last thing on my mind is to add performance mods , cause as you well know 180 R.W.H.P. just does'nt cut it for me
No liscence required for 9's. Its more of a track regulation for example full leathers, some tracks may require a kill switch wire attached to your wrist.
Quickaw knows more of the rules and regulations than I do. I believe the only stipulation is you must be at least 16 years old. You don'nt even need a drivers liscense _________________ If life throws you a curve, TURN |

NHRA Sanctioned tracks DO REQUIRE a pro license if you run in the 9's. If they do not follow the rules, they will loose the sanctioning and the insurance that comes with it. This is much more one guy on a motorcycle trying to make a few passes down the track. Outlaw tracks can do anything they want and make their own rules. I've been on NHRA tracks and appreciate the saftey regulations they have to comply with. I went to a local outlaw track, but stopped when they let a rider go down the track with a beanie, no shirt and the bike was actually dropping parts off as it went down the strip. Yes, it was an HD event and the bike was a very old Sportster. While the vast majority of HD owners take as much pride in their rides as Sport riders, there are always the exceptions.
The fact that the Track Promoter was willing to sacrifice safety to stick another race entry fee in his pocket turned me off completely. My experience with outlaw tracks is not unique, although I don't want to cast a shadow on all independent tracks. There are safe and well managed local tracks, but you should assume that these tracks are going to have some rudimentary safety regulations in place. Requiring a Race License from some sanctioning body when times dip below the 10's just makes good sense. _________________ Steve M
